Desmond Jenkins has always proclaimed himself to be king. On Friday night, the Bluffton High School senior officially earned his crown as the Bobcats opened the 2010 Class 3A-7 season with a hard-fought 27-12 win over Lake Marion High School.
Earning homecoming king honors at halftime wasn't enough glory for Jenkins. The speedster took the Gators' first kickoff of the second half and burned 75 yards upfield for the score that essentially locked down the win for Bluffton (6-0, 1-0 Region 3A).
Also finding the end zone for the Bobcats was C.J. Johnson, Corey Stoner and Eric Boyles. Tony Burns helped pace the defense with an interception and fumble recovery in the end zone to stall a Lake Marion (3-3, 0-1) drive.
